The GTM started as a self-convened group of tsunami scientists affiliated to research, academic and private organizations around the world to focus efforts and provide coordinate action for tsunami hazard and risk assessment.
During ten years, participant organizations have been working together toward a science-based understanding of tsunami hazard and risk and the development of standards and methods accepted by the tsunami community. Several other individuals and organizations are presently collaborating to GTM activities.
The 26th of September 2024, the Global Tsunami Model (GTM) Association was formally established with the signing of the Articles of Association by 18 founding experts from Croatia, Italy, France, Germany, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Turkiye, and UK. See the press release here.
Once the GTM Association will be officially registered (expected by the end of 2024/early 2025), interested institutions will be invited to formally join the GTM. This applies both to currently supporting institutions and to new ones. The list of institutions already showing their interest to join GTM are here.
